Formed in 2012 by longtime musical collaborators Jim Cordes (Vocals, bass) and Tony Porreco (Guitar, Vocals), Washington, DC’s Black Checker is a band out to instill the same fiery dopamine buzz you felt the first time you heard tracks like The Replacements’ “Bastards of Young” and Ted Leo’s “Timorous Me”. Joined by veteran DC drummer Pat Frank (We Were Pirates, The Mean Ideas), the trio throw down catchy blasts of punk-pop served via barroom grit. Consider it a marriage of sweet pop melody and sneering punk rock.

Operating at tempos ranging from brisk to breakneck, the group’s aptly titled debut EP Fast captures a band characterized by fearlessness and boundless energy.
